Day 143
1. Play Alpha Munchies - Choose Expert, then play Level 1 and Level 9.
2. Get out 3 index cards.
      a. Write Noun on the blank side of one card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:
          names a person, place, or thing

      b. Write Verb on the blank side of the second card. On the lined side, write the definition:
          expresses an action or a state of being
      c. Write Pronoun on the blank side of the third card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:  
          takes the place of a noun: I, you, he, she, it, we, they
      d. Put these cards into your "English" card box.
3. Play Ice Cream Talk. First play Nouns, then play Verbs.

Day 144
1. Play Cup Stacking.
2. Get out 2 index cards.
      a. Write Adjective on the blank side of one card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:  
          describes a noun or pronoun and answers these questions: which? what kind of? how many?
      b. Write Adverb on the blank side of the other card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:
          describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb and answers these questions: when? where? how? how much? why?
      c. Review yesterday's cards, and put all of these cards into your "English" card box.
3. Play Parts of Speech Asteroids. Uncheck "Prepositions"


Day 145
1. Play Spelling Bees.
2. Get out 2 index cards.
      a. Write Interjection on the blank side of one card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:  
          expresses emotion and is not related to the rest of the sentence
      b. Write Conjunction on the blank side of the other card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:
          joins groups of words (sentences, phrases, or clauses)
      c. Review yesterday's cards, and put these cards into your "English" card box.

      a. Write Preposition on the blank side of the card. On the side with the lines, write the definition:  
          links a noun to another word in the sentence

1. The word only is an adverb. Write a sentence using the word only.
2. Read this page on adverbs. All of the bold words are adverbs.
3. Write five sentences with adverbs. You can use the page that you just read for ideas of adverbs, but do not copy any of their sentences.

Day 150
1. A clause is a group of related words that contains both a subject (noun) and a predicate (verb). If the clause can stand alone as a sentence, it is called an independent clause. If the clause does not express a complete thought, it is called a dependent clause.
2. Read about clauses, and take the quiz.
3. Write a “when” sentence. Example: When I entered the room, I was surprised by what I saw.
4. Now add a description to the end of your “when clause”, in the middle of the sentence. Be sure to add commas between clauses. Here’s my example: When I entered the room, the one our family spends most its time in, I was surprised by what I saw.
5. Now add another clause to the end of your sentence. Don’t forget to section off your clauses with commas. Here’s my example.  When I entered the room, the one our family spends most its time in, I was surprised by what I saw, something I will never forget. Now you write your new and improved sentence.

1. This week, you are going to fill out an Autobiographical Notebook. An autobiography is a story that you write about yourself.
      a. First, number the pages. At the center of the bottom of each page, write the page number. Be sure to keep the pages in order!
      b. Color the title on Page 1, and write your first and last name in the box. If you would like, you may decorate the title page of your book.
      c. Follow the directions on Page 2. Use a pencil to fill out this book, so that you can neatly erase and correct any mistakes.
      d. Fill in Page 3, About Me.

Day 154
1. Continue working on your autobiography. Fill in Pages 4-6, about your parents. Ask your parents for help on things you don't know. There are two Mother pages, one for Mommy Stacey and one for Mom/Mama Amy.

Day 155
1. Continue working on your autobiography. Fill in pages 7-8, about your sister and your beginnings.

Day 156
1. Continue working on your autobiography. Fill in pages 9-10, about your favorite things.

Day 157
1.  Continue working on your autobiography. Fill in pages 11-13, about your houses, schools, and church. When you are finished, we can staple the pages together to make a book!

1. Play Fling the Teacher.
2. If you didn’t fling him, try again. Keep playing until the teacher has been flung. Sorry, it’s gross.

1. Can you find the words that need capitalizing?

1. Create a Word Document or get a piece of paper.
      a. Make a list of ten action verbs. For example, speak. 
      b. Now write an adverb next to each action verb. For example, speak quietly. 
      c. Save your list as Verbs and Adverbs if you used Word and close your document, or put your paper in today's folder.

1. Write a story using your verbs and adverbs from Monday. Use at least half of them. You may write your story underneath the list. Do not erase your list from Monday. Save and close your document.

  • who’s is a contraction, a short way of saying who is
  • whose is possessive, which means it shows that someone possesses something, like whose book is this
  • their is possessive, meaning that they possess it or own it, like their house
  • there is a location, like in that place over there
  • they’re is a contraction, a short way of saying they are

1. Write a friendly letter. This is just for fun, to review what a friendly letter looks like. You can write something silly in your letter, but pay attention to where everything goes on the finished letter.
2. Play Typing Race Cars. Choose Level 17: all keys.
